In 2013, I was honored to co-chair the 56th Annual New England Book Show, an event hosted by the Bookbuilders of Boston. I chaired once more the following year.
The production of the catalog is a project taken on by students at local universities that allow students to experience designing and creating that catalog for their first client, from manuscript creation to sending the final proofs to the printer.
As chair, I served as their customer, gave guiding direction, and helped form production schedules.

In addition to serving as mentor for the students, being a chair meant selecting top performers from the publishing industry to serve as judges, organizing a "judging day" where submissions are evaluated and selected based on a set of design criteria, and planning the event itself--an elegant gala at the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
