As part of publishing system implementation, we created a Macmillan-specific landing page, which allowed for:
a seamless user experience when using two different tools: a web-based tool to submit and approve new titles and a Citrix-based tool for title management. By using a landing page, the user did not need to know the nuances behind the software and could simply being using it. It also allowed us to create our own branding and messaging around the product
a specialized workflow for issuing usernames (as the implementation came with limited licenses) while using the common "Forgotten your username or password?" link users are used to seeing on sites. Any workflow requirements should happen invisibly and within the end user needing to know the nitty gritty details of what needs to happen on the backend.
a centralized hub for documentation located in the same place as the launch for the product itself, common practice for external customers but often not available in business systems with internal customer
a unified brand to be utilized throughout system presentations, trainings, and other forms of documentation. Consistent branding has an impact on internal adoption rates, especially in organizations with multiple (and sometimes competing) business systems in play.
the ability to sign up for training right from the product page
In order to launch this landing page, we partnered with a graphic designer to create a mascot (Klöe the Koala), who then served as a face for training materials and help documentation and to answer questions as a community manager, and banner which was applied to all sites pertaining to this particular business system.
